Actor Saqib Ayub has offered an exciting update on the much-awaited second season of the hit crime thriller Farzi, giving fans a sneak peek into what’s shaping up to be a bigger, more layered, and more chaotic continuation of the story. Speaking to the media, Saqib opened up about the progress of the shoot, character growth, and the return of the original creative team.
When asked about his character Anees and when audiences can expect to see him back on screen, Saqib confirmed that filming is currently underway and progressing steadily. However, it was his detailed breakdown of what’s coming next that grabbed attention — especially his comments about how significantly Anees’s role has expanded this season.
Saqib said: “The shoot is going very well. It’s going amazingly well, actually. It’s been two months since we started. As for me personally, I’ve only been shooting for about 10 or 15 days—roughly speaking. Yes. Even overall, we haven't been shooting for very long yet. There’s a bit more left to do next month. And then, I think we’ll wrap up the shoot by the end of the year. That’s just a guess, though—I’m not entirely sure, because there are still some scheduling hiccups and date adjustments happening right now. But what I can tell you for sure is this: Anees’s role has expanded. Anees is going to be stirring up even more excitement on screen this time around—even more than he did last year.”
He further added more excitement about the direction of the story, teasing deeper narrative layers and new additions to the cast: “It’s going to be a bit more fun this time. The storyline is getting more intricate. You guys can look forward to seeing some new characters. You can also expect to see some new actors—though I won’t mention them by name, as they are meant to be a surprise. That’s actually why you didn’t see them at the Amazon event either. Okay. Yes, they didn’t attend. We definitely didn’t invite them to that specific event; in fact, they were explicitly told that they wouldn’t be revealed just yet.”
“So, yes—these new developments are underway, and we’re all really looking forward to it. We’re all having a great time. It’s the same vibe—the same team is back together. You know, Raj Sir, DK Sir, and Shahid are back; Bhuvan is back. Bhuvan, Shahid, and I share that same chemistry we had before. Yes, the cops are making a comeback! There’s going to be a whole lot of action and excitement this time around. I think you can expect to see it sometime next year—to be honest, it’s highly unlikely to happen this year” added Saqib.
The update strongly suggests that Farzi 2 is not just expanding its storyline but also deepening its ensemble dynamics, with returning characters and new surprises kept tightly under wraps.
Created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., the series features a powerhouse cast including Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, and Bhuvan Arora. The story follows a disillusioned artist pulled into the world of counterfeit currency, blending crime, satire, and fast-paced storytelling.
Saqib Ayub, meanwhile, has been steadily building his filmography with projects like Superboys of Malegaon, She, Bambai Meri Jaan, HIT: The 3rd Case, First Copy, and Love in Vietnam, further establishing himself as a versatile performer across genres.
With production still ongoing and key details under wraps, Farzi 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated returns in the Indian streaming space — promising more tension, more humor, and a significantly bigger role for Anees.
